Having some trouble correcting the infinite loop on a TNT2 w/ XP

I have a Guillemot TNT2 card running XP and I cannot get it to be stable with any hardware acceleration enabled. I get the infinite loop BSOD and occasionally it just dumps me back into the desktop in 4 or 8 bit color mode at 800x600 and says the D3D device failed.

I have tried the following drivers:
12.41
16.30
21.81
21.83
23.11
29.42
30.82
40.72

and I have fully patched XP Pro. The mobo is a Gigabyte Ga7dxR+, so it is an AMD/VIA hybrid and doesn't use the VIA AGP driver.

This computer is mainly a server, so I don't care about the 3d performance. I do plan on taking it to a LAN party as a dedicated server, so I do need 3d functionality, as most 3d games won't let you start them up to select dedicated server w/o a functional 3d device. Any ideas on what I should try to fix this? Besides this infinite loop thing, the rest of the system is 100% stable, I have stress tested the RAM with Memtest86 for a few days, and it usually runs prime95 24/7.
