Having some problems with AS3 in Flash CS4

Need to make the buttons I have automatically go to frame 2, or should I say the next frame when they are clicked. I tried converting them to symbols, then specifying button and giving them a name, then adding actionscript to the first frame and it doesn't work :\ I've googled it and everyone says the same thing, so I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. It's the "OK", "Go" the two rotate, crop, and drop down buttons.

Any ideas? None of the buttons in the sample below have been converted to symbols yet, wasn't sure after it didn't work if I was supposed to or not?
