Hello ( again ) . I am hoping someone can shed some light on some abnormalities with newly installed memory . System is a Dell T3500 and has 6 GB Kingston DDR3 ( kit of 3 ) . Bought 3 separate modules ( dual rank , 2 GB each ) also Kingston ( KVR1333d3n9/2g - so should be compatible ) . Got 2 beeps and a message saying memory failure on DIMM 1 . Checked memory , no issues stated . New memory shows no Manufacturer ,part number , serial number or Week /year in CPU-Z , does show 12 GB .
Task manager shows total Physical memory 8189 GB , Windows system shows Installed memory 12 GB ( 8 GB usable ) .
Windows Experience ( I know it is not really relevant ) shows 6 memory models lower rated than 3 modules .
Do I have faulty memory slots or something ?
PS this M/B is the replacement for earlier problem .

Is it possible 1 or more of your ram sticks is ECC? Check numbers on every module. The ram MUST BE non registered and non buffered. Max ram speed is 1333 tho 1600 will work @1333.

Also, update T3500 to latest bios if you haven't..

Already have the latest BIOS ( A17 ) . All memory configurations have to use DIMM 1 , same problem if I put the three new modules in slot 1 , 3 and 5 or in 2 , 4 and 6 .

Mix the ram, 1 from 1 set with 2 from the other. Results?

populated DIMM 1 with old memory , DIMMs 2 and 3 with new modules works fine . "Max ram speed is 1333" Ram speed is dependent on the processor , mine is W3565 so ram speed is 1066 . Should CPU-Z ( SPD) memory slots relate exactly to the MB slots - DIMM 1 is slot 1 ?

Yes DIMM 1 should be slot1. If you're in the U.S. you can replace that old W3565 Bloomfield quad core with a newer X5670 Westmere EP hexcore. 12 threads vs 8 means productivity goes up about 40% and may fix your memory issues. T3500 accepts the X5670 and is cheap @ $32.25.

Passmark W3565 = 5948

Passmark X5670 = 7988

This M/B has the DIMM slots marked , but the anomaly is that DIMM 1 slot does not relate to slot 1 in CPU-Z as the old memory has the full details , but the new ones do not ( so I do not get them mixed up ) .
The W3565 processor I have ,accepts max 24 GB but only runs at 1066 ( all modules are 1333 ) so that is not the problem . I am after a new processor ( soon ) ,a X5650 or higher if the price drops ( I check daily ) . China seems to have the Xeon market covered at the moment and prices are fixed !

No one care to shed light on this puzzling ( maybe not a mystery for you knowledgeable types ) problem for me ? I sure would like to get my whole 12 GB working . I have elevated from 2 GB to 4 GB ( laptop ) and to 6 GB in a year , and would dearly like to reach the heights of 12 GB

Memory issue sorted out , now have 12 GB in Task manager and CPU-Z , Marvelous . One thing still unresolved is that in CPU-Z the New memory shows no Manufacturer , part number , serial number or Week /year , whereas the old ones do . Is this an issue ?
