Having some CS problems

I bought CS a couple months ago and haven't been able to play it in Multiplayer ever. I install patches "of1100", "of1101", and "of1103eng" and now when I try to connect to a CS game it says that they're playing a custom game. It says this with EVERY game that I click on too. So what gives?

Well CS Retail is the one you buy from the store and you dont need HL to run it. The other one is the one you need HL for and you can get from counter-strike.net. Which one do you have????

I've got the retail one but upgraded it today with patches from Sierra. Patch 1.1.0.3 supposedly added Multiplayer capabilites to CS, I think...

I'll get the one from counter-strike.net and try it out. Thanks

You shouldn't need the patch to play (It worked fine with out the patch). BTW, Is this in win 98 or 2000? I'm having problems running it on 2000. It works well in 98.

Yzzim & SSP, check you internet setting. I had trouble in Win2k and figured out i had one number wrong with my setting. I could surf the web and do everything but play CS until I corrected the Internet settings.

Yzzim have you tried using the "update" button to get a fresh list of servers? Just a stupid question, but hwo knows!
