having roaming profiles on a partition other than the root partition

as usual, i pretty much say what i need in the title and summary.

is there any way to put the roaming profile in a separate drive other than the root drive (blah\users\documents and settings\ etc/whatever)?

or, how about having the profiles for each user stored on the server instead of the local drives?

i keep my root partition pretty small, and the profiles tend to fill it up and cause problems later down the line.

Sorry, just re-read your post. The link above is what you'll need to do to change the path for existing profiles. To change the default modify this registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList
Change the value for "ProfilesDirectory" to the location you want.

wow thanks... is this the same way to set the directory to the server... it seems it would be... there's shouldn't be anything unique about it right?

not sure to which you are refering for "the server"

If you are refering to local profiles (cached roaming or independant) than just modify these settings to accomodate.

If you are refering to the location for the roaming profiles they are typically specified on the users' accounts in AD; they usually look something like \\server\profileshare\username
