"Having" pronounced "halfing"

My boss does this and it drives me crazy. Not only does he pronounce it like that, but he accentuates it and constantly makes it the one word in his sentence that sticks out. He will give a slight pause right before he says it, then drag the word out to twice it's normal length.

Annoying.

My dad also says "Warsh" instead of "Wash". This is included in all words that use that prefix, such as "Warshington" and "Warshing my car".
 
have you not heard how British or Aussie people talk? They make twice the effort in some words. 😀

i know some ppl would say acts instead of asks...

also, ever since tom brokaw said haressment instead of harassment. i've noticed that many other news casters started to say it too...
 
it's not even so much a black people thing anymore, it's a ghetto any race thing now... what's the one judge show, the hispanic family court judge, talks like she's from the ghetto...oh i cant remember her name right now, but i've actually heard HER say axed, and she's a TV judge... lol

i dont know if those cases are even real?? but if i was ever in her court and she went off on me in her ghetto fabulous way i would have to say something about her being ghetto and not speaking proper english.

you would think, since she's apparently an judge, an attorney, AND on TV, that she would speak proper English....guess not.
 
My grandfather says that he "mowers" his yard. He also calls Lincoln Navigators "Gavinators" and DVDs "DDDs". The last two have something to do with his being mildly dyslexic I think.

i used to. my new pet peeve is people that say "bert-day" instead of birthday.

ie. "hey guuuuuuuuurll.... gurl it's yo BERT-DAY!!!"

i think i should buy a Bert doll from Bert & Ernie (sesame street) so the next time I hear someone say it, i can bash them in the face with it.
