Having probs in Win2k! Help Plz!

I have a dual boot with Win2k and Win98SE. I wanted to try a few games with Win2k, so I loaded an old favorite, Total Annihilation. It's an old strategy game that kicks ass multiplayer. Anyways, it was working flawlessly the first night. The next day I try playing it and it seems to be working good again. Then it exits the game to a blue screen and says,

"***STOP

0x00000000D1 , (0x00003250, 0x000000002, 0x0000000, 0xBEDB6202)

DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

Beginning dump of physical memory"

And no matter how long I leave it there it just stays there. So I usually end up hitting the restart button. Any thoughts on what this is? Or how to fix it? Please help.

Thanks

Did you install anything on your system before you got this message? Also, is that the COMPLETE error message? And, do you OC your machine? If so, post back your mobo settings.

Thats the only game I installed on it. I have ZoneAlarm, ICQ, and I got SP1. My system is as follows:

Abit BX6 rev2
P3-700E @ 933 (stock voltage)
256 mbs of PC133 cas2 (crucial)
mx300 (haven't installed drivers, sound sort of works)
Asus V7700 GeForce 2 GTS 32mb DDR PURE (latest official detonators)
3.2 GB Maxtor 5400RPM
8.6 GB WD 5400 RPM
Netgear NIC

Thanks

Did you install SP1? Also, post back the default CPU voltage and clock cycle, and what you have it set to now.

Look far a patch from the maker of the game. Alot of games don't run well on win2k. I've had problems with Unrealtournament, Tribes...you name it. Just wierd stuff.

not all games will run well in win2k. that bsod just means that the game code did some illegal op i think. since directx has direct access to the hardware. and as a side note, when a bsod comes up you should just reset because it won't do anything until you do.

I got this too for a while (reformatted and did not reload 2k again though) - My research through some tech data showed it was bad drivers or conflicts, especially with SCSI or network cards. You can do searches on it on the 'net, spell out the whole IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL and search on it.

hitting the restart button probably fux0red your win2k install if you would have waited for it to finish dumping it would have rebooted and been fine.. you can change the amount of a file it dumps to a smaller file size and that will speed up the process sometimes..

I am afraid your game was the ultimate virus, it replaced some system-files. Try to bootup in safe-mode, if this doesnot work reinstall the sh*t. The repair options under NT are pretty f**k, sort to speak.

I get the exact same message except a few digits are different in the top line. This happened to me about an hour ago right after installing drivers for my sound card. An obvious conflict somewhere.
I just installed win2k for the 1st time last night so I'm a newby with this OS.
What key strokes allow you to boot up in safe mode?
