Having problems

Well I sold a Radeon 9800 to someone online. Tested it before shipping and it was fine. He gets it and says it works fine but his system restarts after about 20mins or so. Well he has a gateway I think and said it only had a 165watt PSU so we figure thats the problem. He buys a 400watt to put in it and the problem still goes on. I think he put a generic in it though.

Anyway how likely is it that its the card? It sounds like a PSU/memory issue to me. Any suggestions? I am still waiting on complete specs and model of the gateway.

Might be heat I suppose, the 9800 could be putting out a lot more than the old card.

A slot cooler next to it might help.

If he's changed PS and it still happens, my guess would be it's heat. The 9800's can run a little warm.
First ask him what model Gateway he has. From that you can determine what cooling issues he may have.

If he has a tower type case, have him run with his case open and a fan blowing in.
If it fixes the problem, you're golden.

I looped 3Dmark2001 before shipping for hours with no problems. I'll have him run his computer with the case open to see if it helps.
