Having problems with very slow burn speeds with Liteon 24x burner

Hi,

I'm having problems with slow burn speeds. I have a Cendyne (Liteon) 24x burner and when I'm burning a 81 mb file from the hard drive, it takes about 5 minutes to burn.

Any ideas on what could be wrong?

It's installed in a Dell P3 933 mhz machine with 512 mb's of RAM. Win2k Advanced Server.

Right now, the drive is set to slave on the second IDE channel along with my 40x CD ROM set to master. The hard drive is on the primary IDE channel by itself.

TIA,

Sal

What program are you using to burn them with? Are your Cd-r's 24x compatible? Are you running anything else in the background?

Set the toaster to master, the cdrom to slave. What chipset are you running? If via, use the IDEtool to check what your drives are running (udma, pio, etc)

I'm using Nero that came with the burner. The CD-R's are Memorex 1-24x compatible. Nothing else is running in the background.

Ok.. I'll try that. I don't know what chipset I'm running. This is a Dell P3 933 mhz machine running Win2K Advanced Server with 512 mb's of RAM.

One of my other questions was how do I enable DMA on this drive in Win2K Advanced Server. I've looked all over the properties for the drive in Device Manager and I don't see the usual DMA box in there. Is there another way to enable DMA?

The IDEtool you are talking about is in Nero, correct? What should it be set to? UDMA, PIO?

Thanks again.
