OK, yesterday, on my way to the office for a MRI of my back, get 3/4th the way there and van has no go. OH btw this is my 88 Astro with a 92 L98 350 multi port injected under the hood.
It would idle, but anything past that it would bog, stay sorta running, but let off gas, and it would idle right again. Give it gas, bogs, let off run, flutter throttle, kida wanted to go up with the rpm's, but wouldnt, and would idle again. No smoke out either pipe (duals) no smell of rich fuel. I thought out o gas, why not the guage doesnt work, so wtf lets push it to the station 1000 feet away.
All was going good till I tired to hop back in the van when my back pinched, legs gave out, and I got drug with the van 50 or so feet causing me to get some MASSIVE road rash. But in the end I got it to the station and no go, 3 gallons of fuel, she still woulnt fire up.
So got it towed home late last night. I was thinking at irst TPS, since it was running fine to that point, and acted like a TPS not telling the computer where the trottle was at. So I checked that. .5 volts at idle, 4.5 volts at full, so thats perfect. So I had a friend change my fuel filter. CLOGGED. Thought yeah, $15 Im good to go. HELL no. So now he is pulling the tank out tomorrow and replacing the pump.
Is there anything else I am missing here? Turn the key on, you can here the pump build up pressure and shut off, van gives a quick blarp like it wants to start, but suddenly quits that and just cranks. You can put gas down the intake, the van will fire up, but once thats gone, thats it, it dies out again. So Im thinking in the end, clogged fuel filter killed fuel pump.
What you all think?
BTW no presure guage to check at rail what its getting.
