I purchased a XFX geforce 7600GT AGP card, got it installed on a fresh computer reformat.

When I go to play some of my older racing games mainly like Grand Prix Legends, NASCAR Racing 2003 etc in Direct 3d mode, when I am in the game, I get the screen ok, but there are black boxes and lines that popup, along with that some stuttering. Now when I tried opengl mode I didn't seem to be getting any of that. But I would rather run in Direct 3d mode..

Anybody have any idea what might be happening there? I have an older ATI 9600 pro and do not get the errors like that with that card. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

You need to make sure all traces of the ATI video drivers are gone from your system and also make sure you are using the latest video drivers from www.nvidia.com.

WEAVER, what drivers? Try some older/different ones from the nvidia archives or guru3d.com

I tried the brand new nvidia drivers, and some older ones that came with the card itself, same thing, black flashing when in the game. I dunno, I'm thinking maybe a bad card or something. I'm gonna install maybe battlefield 2 or my flight sim and see if it does it on those also.

try the 83.xx-84.xx forceware, they always seem to behave nicely with 7 series Geforce cards, my old 7800GS always liked them compared to the later 9x.xx forceware drivers.

I still use 91.47 version with my 7950GT on the ASRock 775Dual-VSTA mobo.

I used those with the BFG 7800GS AGP on the same mobo before.

Just uninstall the current NVidia drivers properly, delete the C:\NVIDIA\(Driver version here) directory, clean the registry (or use the Driver Cleaner), and try the 91.47.

Good luck!
