I have a LG 32GK650f-B which is nice except for the random black screens and I can't seem to figure out what's causing it. I've tried three different display port cables and I'm just giving up.

I want to buy a different brand but same kind of specs like 32" 1440p high refresh rate. I'm looking at the Samsung G5 Odyssey, Gigabyte G32QC, and Dell S3220DGF. It will replace my current LG monitor and the LG will go to my second gaming computer. I don't know how I feel about a curved screen either as I have always used flat. Any feedback on these monitors would be great as well as any recommendations. Thanks!

Curved screen, do not worry too much, its something you forget about over time.

But the random black screens i am guessing might be because of the refresh rates settings.
What are you natively running the monitors refresh rate at?

If you can afford a G7 i would go with a G7, the G7's are in a class of its own with the new QLED panel @ 240hz.

My LG 32GK650f-B is 144hz natively but because of the black screens I recently reduced it to 120hz to troubleshoot. Freesync is enabled on the monitor and enabled through Nvidia Control Panel. I reduced Freesync on the monitor settings from Extended to Basic. Also reduced Response Time from Faster to Fast. I turned off energy saving settings. I've unplugged the monitor, waited a while then plugged it back in. So far no black screens for a couple days but it's so random it's hard to test.

I want to get a second monitor anyway so I can rule out my video card Geforce 1070 and the display port cables as the cause. I do want to buy a really nice 1440p monitor. I don't have a frame of reference because my monitor is the best one I've seen in person. I appreciate the G7 recommendation, I'll look into it. If I could get something under $500 that has a little bit better image quality than the LG, I would be happy.

I have your monitor and it blacked out twice on me. I have no idea why. But for now it's stable. Other people with the very same monitor have reported the same issue. I am not sure what's causing it but mine stopped doing it.

Is it outside your one year warranty with LG? Get it replaced if its still within warranty.

Interesting, I'm kind of relieved I'm not the only one. It's happened to me about six times although since I set the refresh rate to 120hz it seems to have stopped for now. I did just order a 5600XT to do further testing at 144hz and see if I can get that stable. I still have six months warranty left but if it happens again with the new card then I'm contacting them.

i think it also could be do with browser and hardware acceleration.
ever since i disabled that, i have not had my monitor flicker.

Go in chrome settings and disable hardware acceleration and see if that helps.

Thank you for the suggestion, I will give it a try. I use both Firefox and Chrome.

The black screen happened again. The settings on the monitor aren't even aggressive. I called LG today and they suggested I unplug the monitor from the wall and hold the power button to discharge electricity (I had not done that yet). I don't have high hopes that worked though.

All these 32 inch Freesync monitors I'm looking at seem to have some issue with Nvidia G-Sync compatibilty. I think I saw somewhere that the LG 32GK650f-B was tested to work with Nvidia G-Sync which is why I bought it. I don't really want to spend hundreds of dollars more for an actual G-Sync monitor, I'm not really a huge gamer but want great performance when I do game. I guess I'll see if the 5600XT I bought makes any difference since it's an actual Freesync card. I still need a second monitor but now I have to factor in if I can use my existing GTX 1070 for my second computer or buy another AMD card.

Well, I've been using the new Asrock Challenger Pro 5600 XT for a week now and it seemed everything was okay but I just had the same black screen today. Same as I did with the GTX 1070 before. I can only guess it's the monitor causing the problem at this point since I'm using an AMD card now and the Freesync should be working perfectly. I suppose all I can do is call LG at this point.

I'm still trying to decide on another 32" 1440p monitor. I've narrowed it down to the Samsung G5 Odyssey, Gigabyte G32QC, Dell S3220DGF, and ASUS TUF VG32VQ. I'm leaning towards getting the Dell.
