Having problems with a windows install.

So I am trying to do a fresh install of XP onto my file server. I format the drive and it installs the needed files then reboots. It gets to the winXP screen with the progress bar going across the bottom and then the monitor goes blank. I have tried the install several times with the same effect. I am guessing it may be video card related, but am not, and don't understand why it would work again upon reboot, only to fail in that same spot.

Sempron 2800+, DFI lanparty 250GB, Radeon 8500DV, 1 GB PC 3200 corsair ram. Need any more info?

Just switched video cards to an NV 6600GT, reboot netted the same result, trying a reinstall of windows now. The MB is only like 6 months old, so I would like to think it's not it. Is it a software/driver problem

The reinstall originally proved effective. Windows managed to boot and finish its install.

I then went on to install the MB and graphics drivers and got the first update from windows update, which required a reboot. Upon reboot I get a disk boot failure, insert system disk and press enter error. Any help? This is with no floppy or CD inserted.
