I'm having problems with an ASUS P4PE mobo using 1 stick of 512 megs of DDR 2700, I'm not being able to boot into windows and when I do, the system hangs or even locks up.
When I try with 2 sticks of 256megs, the PC works fine, but as soon as I try with 1 stick of 512 problems start again.
Anybody having the same problems?
Need advice!
Thanks.

What slot are you putting the ram in?

Some mobos must have double side ram in a specific slot, usualy 1 & 2,check your manual for confirmation.

yes,
run memtest86. (all 11 tests ~ hit c-2-3-0)
its a bootable floppy so it will eliminate OS problems.
make sure the ram is in slot 1.
use the latest bios (older bios's had boot bugs) but clear bios before flashing.
(or just clear bios)

try lame cas and turbo off if it fails.

HTH :)

Thanks guys but this is the 3rd stick of mem I use, 1st was a generic of DDR 3200, next was one with Sparc Tek chips and the last one is one with infineons on it, both DDR 2700, they are all double sidded with 16 chips (8 per side) and I tried all in different slots, I wish I could run some test, but systems hangs at boot even in the BIOS setup screen!:Q
I'm P*%$^# off at this point.:|
:D LOL
