Having problems reading a CD with nero?

I am trying to do a CD copy. It starts out fine, but when it starts to read the CD, it seems like the drive spins for a second then stops then spins for another second then stops, it just keeps doing that. And the percentage never goes up. I have burnt CD's before, and I tried both my CD burner and my DVD drive as the read drive. What can i do.

Since you have checked the media in another drive then it sounds like the media that you are wanting to copy might have scratches or the media might be dirty.


It might sound kind of lame, but what I do when something like this happens is take the media (cd) and wash it and dry it off with a SOFT towel or something. Usually I can then copy it at least once. They make cd media cleaners, but I figure for the money I can just wash it in my bathroom sink. I've used Ivory soap to wash it off with, but I would be careful what types of soap you use; deffinately nothing with pumace in it.

Yeah I figured that, so I wiped it off, not great but enough to make sure there wasn't any smudges on it or anything. But it still starts up automatically and can be used to install and stuff, so i don't think it's scratched or anything.
 
What version of nero are you using? Maybe there was a bug and it is fixed in a later release? You could always try reinstalling Nero and see if that helps.

I am using Nero 5.somthing, so it's relatively new. It came with my Liteon 24X burner. I just let it sit there for a while and now I noticed it is reading it, but it is going really slow 1% so far and I am at 5:00 minutes, what would be causing this?
