I've been trying to rip songs and create mp3 files from the new Evanescence CD but I guess that the music is "copy proofed" because there is a strange, reoccurring tone every 20 seconds or so in each one of the songs. This may be a common practice in the music industry now with all the music-sharing going on but I've never had a problem like this. Is there anyway to over ride this protection or eliminate the noise (that we can discuss here)?

Hmmmm I have one MP3 from that CD I got off Kazaa Lite and noticed that sound. I was told it was part of the song, not sure what the deal is. Guess that isn't the case if every song has that. I'm sure if it'll sound right on a CD player than there is some way to rip it right.

What if a regular CD player plugged into the Line-In jack and someone played the songs, recording them to .wav files, then encoded those into .mp3?

I guess I could try that but I was hoping for more of a software solution. It's very odd that the tone doesn't show up when I play the CD but it does when I rip the track. Maybe I'll check out the WAV file to see if the noise is there as well.
