Having problem with new Intel 810 drivers

I loaded the new intel 810 chipset driver into my Mom's little Abit wb6? based system and am now getting a strange graphical error that seems like it mostly effects text, it looks like letters have little tails behind them like dragging pixels, kinda hard to explain.
This isn't a world stopping problem but I would like to understand why insted of ignoring it.

Are you sure it's the drivers and not the monitor or video card itself?, are you using on-board video?

Did you install the graphics drivers as well as the chipset drivers? You need both.
