Having problem with my lan connection

I have configured my Pci ethernet card and I have no problem extchanging data with other computers. The problem occurs when I try to play a "lan" game. If I host a game, people can't join me and if I try to join a game, it doesn't work at all.
Please give me a hand.
 
What kind of games are you playing? Some older games such as Command & Conquer use the IPX/SPX protocol, so you must have that installed to play that game. Are you running any type of firewall?
