Several months ago, while going thru some very difficult financial times, we lost our cable tv. Although, we could have had it reinstated, we all agreed the peace and quiet was much better. Now we entertain each other by telling stories, kind of like the old days. We actually eat a meal and pay attention to each other. Also, when night falls, it get's really quiet around here. You ought to try it sometime, it's not bad at all. :)

Yes, I kept the net connection, if for nothing more than being able to keep in touch with family and friends. We actually lost the phone service for a time, and used the cell phone, even though we have DSL.

My parents decided when I was about 6 or 7 that TV was a bad thing and so they disconnected the cable and antenna. Only got used for watching movies.

Now, at the age of 19, TV holds almost no interest for me. I have seen some stuff, and enjoyed it (simpsons, seinfeld, late show, etc.), but I almost never turn the TV on of my own accord. Don't even have a TV in my dorm room. It is in my neighbors and good friends (he couldn't afford one) and I just play my XBox in there (he leaves the door unlocked).

Also agreed,

I haven't had a TV for 5 years, and don't miss it,

but saying that when i do see one now i just stare vacantly at it mesorised as if its some
new fangeled technology!!

And now finally, i have decided to re-enter the moving picture world, and buy one and a DVD player as i do miss movies though!

I did the exact same thing. I moved depts. from svc. to sales and straight commission. What a bad time to move to car sales!! (esp. Ford)

Anyway, we cut off our cable, but kept Roadrunner :D

The only things I miss are ESPN and the History/Discovery channels. Oh yeah, and Fox news. ;)

Funny thing is, some of the upper channels still work ok. I guess the filter they put on doesn't catch everything.

Haven't had one for about 5 years as well. I watch it at other peoples houses whenever I am there though. Still got my computers and I watch DVD's on one of them and play games on the other. Made an agreement with my spouse to wait until I get my assosiates degree until we get a TV.

There would have been no way that I could have gotten an associates in 3 years while working full time if I had a tv.

I miss it around this time of the year..NBA and NHL playoffs as well as March Madness and Letterman

For me, the TV is an alarm clock (literally) and a place to plug my PS2 and Dreamcast into. :)

I watch it about a half hour to an hour before I go to bed and occasionally I watch a sporting event.

I like to leave it on in the background while I'm on the computer. Multitasking makes me feel like I get more done, even when I'm not doing anything.

TV is responsible for the dumbing down of America.

Wife and I are in the same situation, we are both having financial; difficulty right nnow, so the Satellite is off. we spend more time together, and more gets done around the house.
