I've had problems with this machine from the get-go. I've already set up an identical machine and it's running smoothly now, but this one isn't cooperating. Problems include:
- Faxes die after a certain number of pages have been sent
- Programs sometimes hang when launching them, causing Explorer to freeze. This always requires a shutdown (or hard reboot).

I'd like this machine to have sound, too, but I'll cross that bridge when I get to it. Currently I need to have it stable and able to fax.

Here are the IRQs ... anyone see any potential problems here?

0 System timer
1 Standard 101/102-Key or Microsoft Natural Keyboard
2 Programmable interrupt controller
5 Zoom 56K PCI Faxmodem
5 Linksys LNEPCI II PCI Ethernet Adapter
5 VIA VT83C572/VT82C586 PCI to USB Universal Host Controller
5 VIA VT83C572/VT82C586 PCI to USB Universal Host Controller
5 ACPI IRQ Holder for PCI IRQ Steering
6 Standard Floppy Disk Controller
7 ECP Printer Port (LPT1)
8 System CMOS/real time clock
9 SCI IRQ used by ACPI bus
10 ACPI IRQ Holder for PCI IRQ Steering
11 Diamond Viper V330
11 ACPI IRQ Holder for PCI IRQ Steering
12 PS/2 Compatible Mouse Port
13 Numeric data processor
14 Primary IDE controller (dual fifo)
14 VIA Bus Master PCI IDE Controller
15 Secondary IDE controller (dual fifo)
15 VIA Bus Master PCI IDE Controller

Currently I have the Promise controller and COM ports 1 and 2 disabled. I'm also using 128 megs of Mushkin rev1.5 pc133 RAM.

Any help would be mightily appreciated.

Thanks!

Well, I disabled the USB controllers and now I can fax (they were sharing IRQ 5 with the modem and network card). The problem is that I have a USB scanner I'll want to use eventually. I'm still having problems with Explorer though.

OS? If its not NT then try manually setting your IRQ's. Dont share your nic and modem if you can help it. Actually dont share anything if you can help it but start with those.
