Hey all.

I have a Belkin USB wireless adapter, but I found out that it is hard-limited to 3.5mbps, no matter how good the signal :( My boss at work got some wireless stuff for us at work (2x DWL-650+, 1x DWL-AP6000) and a PCI adapter as a spare for any machine that needs it at work.

Anyway, as it's not in use I was able to bring it home, and have installed it in my server (running Windows 2003 Server (eval edition)), but no matter what I have tried, it won't work properly. It will connect to the wireless network with the same parameters as the PCMCIA card and USB adapter, will give the laptop (with PCMCIA card) and IP address, DNS and default gateway as it should (running a DHCP server on 2003), but anything to do with browsing or transfer will fail.

The IP address is there, but won't ping from one way to the other. Can't browse internet, browse network, anything. However what is stumping me is that the PCI card can do a site survey and see the laptop, and take it's settings from it, and then the laptop is getting an IP address through it, but nothing more.

Any suggestions/help would be much appreciated.

Yep, all the SSID settings etc are the same. When doing a site-survey on the PCI adapter, it picks everything up, and sets it up. The laptop it getting an IP address etc from the 2003 machine via wireless, through the PCI adapter.

Just no browsing/pinging/anything else.

If the SSID settings aren't right, then there wouldn't even be a connection, and the laptop wouldn't pick up the IP address, right?
