having doubts, what should I do

I was originally planning on upgrading my system to a 3800, 2gig ram, 7800 vid card, and asus mb (939).

Currently I have a 3400, asus mb (745) and 1 gig of memory, with a 6800 ultra agp. The problem is that I have bf2 and I run it on a dell 2405 monitor so I need a good system. I am in a clan and play this game a lot so I need it to run smooth.

I am getting alot of lag during intense fighting times. I was told getting 2 gigs of memory would solve the problem.

So my choices are to get rid of my 2 512k ram and buy 2 1 gig modules or get a new system. I know just getting new memory would be the cheaper solution but then I am wasting money on memory that I will just have to sell/give away when I do upgrade my system. As you all know, 745 is basically dead.

If you think I should just upgrade my ram, what would you recommend (it is not a 939 mb).

Dude, your system is plenty good. No need to upgrade, just get more mem. I use 2 gigs of Corsair VS and never had problems with it. Get cheap quality ram. 2 gigs is my sweet spot, not just for BF2, but for everything else. Your system should last you for a long while.

If you recommend just getting 2 x 1gigs, please recommend what brand/model I should get.

Thanks in advance.

I agree with Oyeve. I doubt you'll see a difference going from the 3400+/6800U to a 3800+/7800GTX. That, and it will cost you a mint. I'd get any cheap value RAM. You won't notice a difference between cheap value RAM and expensive name brand stuff.

Most people on the forums seem to recommend the cosair vs ram. Are there any local retailers that sell it at a good price? (compusa, cc, bb, etc.)?

Newegg baby.

Thanks everyone, but I have one really dumb question.

Is this what you recommend I get?

CORSAIR ValueSelect 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 533 (PC2 4200) Unbuffered Dual Channel Kit System Memory Model VS2GBKIT533D2 - Retail

ALso, does the 939 use different memory than the 745?

Uhm, that's DDR-2 memory which you can't use, you need to find 184-pin DDR PC3200

socket 754 and 939 both use DDR-PC3200

Is this the one?

CORSAIR ValueSelect 1GB 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) Unbuffered System Memory Model VS1GB400C3 - Retail

Do they come paired or should I just buy two of these?

Just get two of these:
Corsair

Which is the one you stated.
