The bottom center of the pie crust keeps burning but shorter cooking times result in a cold top. I thought their included bowl was supposed to include science to prevent this???

The microwave text on the back of the box is bigger. It's meant to be microwaved.
It's bigger cause it's easier, not better. Americans like easier, and advertising "Dinner in 3 minutes!" in a huge font on the front of the box sells product.

I heat them in the microwave all the time. I get the larger single serving pie and cook it 12 minutes on high. Then let it sit for a minute. Perfect every time.

I cook these in the microwave when I get them. I tend to stay away from them because salt and because I'm so impatient to eat when they come out of microwave that I often end up burning my mouth.

OP is leaving them inside the box while microwaving, right? The bowl browns the bottom while the box browns the top. You're supposed to peel off the pull-strip and then put the whole thing (box included) into the microwave.

My other problem is that the "gravy" boils out of the pie and ends up inside the box leaving my pie a little lacking of gravy goodness.

I've had several of the Marie Calendar pot pies. The ones i cooked in the microwave came out unevenly cooked. The ones i cooked in the oven came out fantastic.

They might have microwave instructions on the box, but i'm telling you from my own experience that the Oven method is the only way to go.

Until today I would have believed that a man being stymied by frozen food would be something you only read about on The Onion.

Your problems marie calendars those things are terrible. I got this pot pie recipe from my mom thats awesome. Started making it one day to realize I didn't have a pie crust. Turns out chicken pot pie soup is even better. Little butter, flour, milk, chicken broth, salt, pepper, mixed veggies and some chicken. Too easy and delicious, don't even need the oven.

On the ones with longer cooking times like 12 minutes I stop it after 8, let it sit for a few minutes for heat to spread and then give it the rest of the time. Might work with your pies.

I agree, oven is better but when it is 90 something degrees outside I hate to use it.

I used to eat the turkey pot pies until I looked at the nutrition information. Maybe it's good if all you're eating is this for lunch and a light salad for dinner...

BTW, the oven is the only way to cook it.

I use their chicken pot pies and only do them in the regular oven at 400° F for 70 minutes ... It just does not work properly in a microwave oven.

Dude, you're responding to a guy who apparently couldn't be bothered to put his frozen food module into the oven for better results, in a thread in which one respondent who, after extracting his food module from the microdeath oven, admitted that he's so impatient to cram it in his ravenous maw that, and I quote, "I often end up burning my mouth."

^^^ Not just once, but often, as in time after time.

You've got to read the room, man. Telling the OP he should construct his own alternative is advice from an alternate universe.

"ravenous maw", LOL X10, yea, I have one of those as well so I always have a cold beverage at hand in cast it happens. Oh, OP, I highly suggest you switch to Stoffers frozen pot pies, they are much, much better than MC and for the same price. More meat, better quality chicken, and much creamier gravy, you won't look back to MC once you try Stoffer's.

Does your microwave have a rotating disc like the FSM intended, or are you a lowly fixed-floor peasant?

Food-spinning helps with the uneven deathcooking. Also reading the friendly box and so leaving it in the friendly box.

It has a rotating disc like all (non-commerical) microwaves I've ever seen.

Yeah, the turkey pot pie is delicious. All the turkey pieces are free of chewy cartilage. What is it with chicken pot pies that there's always one or two pieces of chicken you just have to put to the side?

As most have said, the oven is the way to go with pot pies. Anything with a crust really.

My gf laid down to take a nap at 8:30pm and now she is gonna sleep through the night instead. Threatening her with a nerf gun did not get her up. I'm bored. Any other dumb complaints from the crew?
