Having difficulties with digital media through hdmi

Salutations all. I recently moved from an apartment into a house, but during the move something transpired which made my digital media on my pc unable to be played in 5.1 via hdmi to my receiver. Before the move it would, after it wouldn't. It still plays, but only in 2.1. I have checked all the settings on the receiver itself, and all the settings I can think of in the playback devices in windows, and in the audio portion of my catalyst control. I'm really at a loss, and getting frustrated lol. My receiver is the older Sony STR-DG810 and the video card providing the audio is the Radeon 7770. Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
 
I just had an extreme problem on my 7 Series Radeon. I couldn't even get audio without disabling sleepmode on my card.

It's going to be a long road for trouble shooting I'll give you that. Good luck.
