having cpu fan trouble

it appears that my cpu fan is about to quit on me
where is the best place to purchase one
I have a Micron pc millennia max xp2 with a 1 gig cpu
oh and does any one know the normal rpm for the cpu fan
and is there anything I need to watch out for in changing it
it looks easy just 4 screws and the lil cable.
TIA

Slot CPU? Socket CPU? AMD/Intel?

It will greatly vary by how the cooling system is designed most OEMs use quieter lower RPM fans so 3500-5000rpm would be acceptable.

Depends slot or socket cpu?

Screws? is it a slot? Very few sockets heatsyncs use the screws (Which is rather hard to install/uninstall), and is rather odd for an OEM to use that. But if it is slot then that would sound right.

ok not to hot on the hardware side but to make sure I understand
slot cpu is like it goes into a slot like maybe your ram goes into
socket goes flat on the board
if I understanding correct then I have a socket and its and AMD athlon
