Having computer problems, please help

Ok...my roommate has a PIII-450 system. The hardware is a Netgear FA310TX NIC, Diamond Monster Sound MX300, Diamond Viper V770 ultra, and 128 megs of generic pc100 ram. The problem is is that he can't get his computer to recognize the sound card all of a sudden. Then it won't recognize the NIC. When we reinstalled the NIC drivers, we totally lost the sound card. The sound card drivers won't even install totaly without freezing his computer. When he does get it to finally install them, they cause his computer to blue-screen. I'm at a loss for idea's of why this is. Any help is appreciated.

I forgot to add that the board is an ABIT BX6 rev2.
