Having Boot Problem with new System

I just built a new AMD 64 system using the AMD 3000 64 939 winchester and the MSI K8N NEO2 motherboard. After the build i powered it up and everything worked fine. Windows installed with no problems, everything was working just great. I was on the computer for about 2 hours doing updates and installing software and still everything worked fine. The next morning I go to turn it on and nothing shows up on the monitor. The cdroms, harddrives, fans, and everthing else powers up but my monitor displays the "no signal" message. The cdroms also continually make noises and the lights blink. The harddrive light just stays on and doesnt blink or turn off. I turned the computer off and reset the Cmos jumper, turned the computer back on and then the post screen appeared and it booted to windows and worked fine just as the day before. Just to double check i shut it down, waited a few seconds, and started it up and it booted fine. Once again the next morning the same problem, and now sometimes it wont boot after I'm in the bios and I select save and exit. Does anyone know what is wrong?? and how the hell do i fix this? Its not a serious problem but its so annoying having to constantly reset the Cmos.

Can you list the system specs, and include the brand & model of your power supply.

I'd bet a :cookie: your problems will vanish if you replace that cheap PSU with a high-quality one. Enermax Whisper II 460W for example. Note how it has close to twice the 12V amperage of your Rosewill-badged L&C unit.

Along with that, it would be good to ensure that the RAM is getting at least 2.7 volts, not AUTO voltage.

So do you really think the problem is the powersupply? I dont wanna go and spend 70 some dollars and still have the same problem

It's my prime suspect here. Why do you think the Rosewill 400W unit is $25 while the Enermax is about $75?

:) ~ ah so, grasshoppah...

You could test the theory by installing a low-powered nVidia card such as a GeForce4MX, and unplugging both optical drives and as many fans as possible, to reduce the power load. If the system begins starting consistently, that tells you something.

Is it possible that something may be wrong with the round silver battery on the motherboard??
