Having a problem with my Sony 2TB external HD. What should I do?

Does anyone have a Sony 2TB external hard disk here, this one? http://www.sony.co.in/product/hd-e2/sku/hd-e2_so2+++in

I am having a problem with it. I use it to connect to my Bravia (W6 series) and watch stuffs. But the problem is sometimes the TV doesn't play! I mean it just keeps loading and loading! The solution is weird too. I just disconnect the drive, plug it back to my PC, and hit refresh and then when I connect back it plays the file okay. But why that weird attitude on first occasion? I mean it doesn't happen every time, but say 2/10 times, which is bothering too. I used to use my SanDisk Extreme pen drive and have never seen this problem! Should I sell this and get a WD Ultra or something, or that might be a problem with the TV? Cause the file plays fine on PC, but then again everything you throw at a PC plays 😛
The HD is formatted as NTFS, allocation was set as default, and I use USB 3.0 to transfer files from my PC, don't think these information's matter, still....

Kindly give some opinions, the HD is just two weeks old, and I don't like non 100% working things.

Thanks.

I don't have experience with stand alone players for tv, but...

when you say it happenes 2/10 times.. is that per file? or randomly but with the exact same file?

if it varies between files or directories and not randomely with the exact same file in the exact same session(as in leaving it connected and not connecting it to other devices like you PC).. my first thought would be the permission settings on the File or Directory.

I don't know about other operating systems, but on winXP, you can see the permission settings by going to
/control pannel/folder options/disable simple file sharing
then
/right click/file or folder/properties/security/advanced

If there are files that always load correctly, compare those files or folder with the permission settings of the next file or folder that fails to load

It happens with random file, not same file. Like first time I noticed it when I was copying Skyfall to the disk. Today it happened when I copied 3 episodes of an old soap, first one didn't play at first, last two did. Also I have checked permission on all the three files, and they are all same!
Now I just need to figure out if it's the TV or the Hard drive. Chances are it's the TV as my SanDisk Extreme never gave me any problem. I will be damned!!
