Trying to upgrade a hard drive in a computer that's running WindowsXP Pro. I used Ghost (don't chide me, it's all I have on hand...is there something better to do this with?) to dupe the partition to the new hard drive from the old (I want to replace the old hd with the new 8MB cache model and remove the old hd from the system.) Unfortunately, it gets stuck in a loop saying it "cannot verify the WinXP installation and restrats the welcome screen. It continues to get stuck there.....error msg. and then loops back to the error message.

I just wanted to upgrade the darned hd; I hate the idea of having to install WinXP all over again on the new drive then attempt to replicate all the old settings, files, etc.

Also, how the heck do you create WinXP boot floppies/CD? I thought I remembered where it was, but darned if I can find it now.

Yeah. The WinXP File and Settings Transfer Wizard is supposed to be pretty good at transferring settings. Just install WinXP on the new drive, set the old drive as a slave and run the wizard.
