Having a problem with a cell phone company regarding a paid bill

Nocturnal

Ok, so I was with Nextel for a while and I cancelled the plan. So I was charged $200.00. I sent in a check for $100.00 in the beginning of Feb. Now I am waiting itll my next pay day to send in the other $100.00. But today I got a mail from the credit collectors saying that I now owe $200.00 all over again.

I have a feeling they're trying to rip me off. Is there anything I can possibly do to not get ripped off?

I have the carbon copy of the check that I sent it, and that's it. Nothing more.

Please help me, thanks.

You need to contact the collection agency and file a 'Letter of Dispute.' Be specific with dates and times and provide copies of your records pertaining to the payments. You can do this yourself without the help of a lawyer.

I'm sure it is a mistake, but you cannot be too careful...or keep too many records!
