I just got a brand new Abit BE6-2 ...I think its a revison 2. How can I tell if its a rev 2 or not? It has the hotrod controller.

At the bottom left of the screen at boot up
I have 11/08/1999-i440BX-W83977-2A69KA1UC-PL

I am having some problems with my cellermine 533a and a asus slotkit when I install win2000. Should I flash the bios first or flash the hot rod controller first? And what is the latest and/or best bios and controller to use with a celeron 2 or coppermine?

Look for the PCB revision number to be on the underside of the last EISA slot on your mobo. Unless your case has a removable mobo tray, you'll likely need to remove the motherboard altogether in order to see the number. It will probably be either 1.x, 1.0x, or 1.2.

Also, I *THINK* (though I'm not certain) that flashing your BIOS might upgrade your Highpoint BIOS at the same time. You might want to check on this, as I'm not 100% certain of this.

You definately need to determine the version of the BE6-II, because there are different BIOS updates for the different revisions of the BE6-II

This is cut and paste from Abit's Web Site:

Since there are two different key versions (One is the version 1.0x series, the other one is the version 1.2 and newer series), it's very important to know how to recognize which mainboard version you have before upgrading your board's BIOS.How can you tell? There are three ways:
The first way:
You can find the version number on a white sticker on the side of the last ISA slot, with a string of characters like ""BE6 II-OK V1.0X"".
The second way:
You can read the last two letters on the bottom right of the first boot-up screen (with the "Energy Star" logo) to recognize what the BIOS ID number you have. Comparing this ID to the list below will tell you which version you have. BlueWeasel: You will need to go to Abit's site and view the list of BIOS; See below for details.

You may check to see whether or not your BE6 II has the HPT 370 chip on board.

The easiest way to determine if it is the later revisions is to see if you have the HP370 controller onboard. Earlier versions have the HP366 controller.

Go to the Abit site above and then under Download => BIOS Update => BE6-II (be sure of your version here) and read everything on the page.

Hope this helps. . .
