i'm in a pretty tough situation now and i've tried to avoid bringing it up but i can't fix this:

okay my cpu has been OC'd before but never went above 1.5v or 3.6ghz for more than a few hours.
now, it is completely stock, reset CMOS (via battery + 30 mins +discharge), loaded optimized defaults

manually set ONLY vCore to 1.3v. everything else on Auto.
Disabled: LLC, EIST, C1E, Virtualization

problem: my system would freeze/hard lock/hang/w.e u want to call it every day usually within 24 hours.
i've tested my cpu/ram with 50 passes of LinX, 24 hours of Memtest86+, 24hours of HCI Memtest.

for example, it froze once during the 24 hour of HCI memtest, but i saw that it had just been a little over 24 hours since i booted up. it also froze on me multiple times when i was just idling and browsing the internet. i've never seen any errors or stability problems w/ the tests so i don't think my cpu/ram is at fault.

my mb is brand new (GA-EP45-UD3R) and my PSU is brand new (PCPC Silencer 610). i had the same/similar problem w/ my last motherboard also (GA-P35-DS3P)

please help, desperate.

Does it happen at non-overclocked configuration as well? If not, then you know where the problem lies. ;)

Unclear at to the model of Gskill you're running but I have pretty much the same setup right down to CPU, Gskill 4gb Ram, motherboard, and monitor. I've had it overclocked to 3GHz 24/7 for 6 months without hiccup. Before messing with your hardware, rule out if its a virus or spyware. Having done that, My first assumption to your problem would be it's a heat issue within your case. Try running it with the case open and see if it freezes within the same time span. My second guess would be the ram. Try testing each dimm separately in single channel. Hope this helps.
