having a explorer.exe problem

for some reason whenever i open a media file that opens with media player, the computer tells me that explorer.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. this doesn't happen on quicktime videos though. afaik it is not happening on anything else. and it is only happening on the second partition of the hard drive not the c drive, it doesn't happen when i open a networked computer's file. so any ideas

what happens when you open them using zoomplayer or media player classic (google these) ?

i don't think that that would be the problem becuase media player files play fine if its in the c drive
