Having a data corruption problem, any thoughts?

I have downloaded Counterstrike 7.1 FULL 5 times now. Every time it says there is a corrupt installation file.

Other files have become corrupt also, but not nearly as easily as Counterstrike.

I have done a reinstallation resulting in the same problems.

Hardware failure? Memory hole? Does anyone have the memory program that tests your memory bit for bit and tells you if you have a problem? Bad IDE controller? This has gone on through two motherboards, however, although the new one seems to be worse than this one. Possibly bad IDE cable?

Thanks!

anything else corrupting?

the I think it is the file itself. My friend had the same problem... Prob. some bug

I had problems with bad downloads, especially large ones, and it was the m/b-cpu combo. I was trying to use a K6-2 550 on one of the original FIC VA503+ boards that was only rated for 450. I could d/l the same large file using my other computer with a DFI m/b and there was no problems. Stuck the latest version of the 503+ in with the 550 and no problems with big d/l's.

Well, i restarted before installing yet another DL of counterstrike. I noticed it said i had 256kb L2, *disabled.*

I am testing another DL right now, hopefully things will be ok. I am very mad that i left my L2 disabled, as there have been other signs of bad cache performance (significant drops in framerate in UT - from 75 to 30 at times...)

Ill be right back with a reply post for everyone, thanks much for the help!
