If i have a clearly broken bone I may go to the doctor... i rather just tough it out like a man.

Not too bright a choice in this case never mind manly. A persistent wracking cough like you have now can do serious damage to your entire respiratory system.

Go to the doctor and get a narcotic cough suppressant like Tussionex. Stops the cough in its tracks AND knocks you out so you can heal.

Been sick myself, but also stayed up much longer. Spent all day Sept. 15, 2011 saying goodbye to my friends, family, coworkers, and neighbors in San Diego before hopping on my motorcycle and riding 45 hours straight. I had been awake well over 55 hours when I arrived.

finished off whole bottle of nyquil and the shit does nothing at all.

trying to figure out how to fall asleep sitting up right. this is brutal. covered in sweat and my stomach hurts like i've done 1oooooo million situps from coughing.

I'm not one to run to a doctor everytime i get sick.

Unusual illness is exactly what a doctor is for. Unless you think this cough is "everytime", which it shouldn't be.
You're describing a serious symptom worthy of a doctor visit.

Maybe it would help if you actually took the right medicine for your symptoms?

Nyquil has Acetaminophen, which might help a bit with headache and fever, but not as good as Ibuprofen for most people.

Nyquil has Dextromethorphan as cough suppressant, which may help reduce coughing a bit, but probably you need an expectorant to help clear out that crap.

Nyquil has Doxylamine succinate which is the ingredient that is supposed to make you drowsy, but, if you are still coughing and have a headache, is not going to do the trick.

Ibuprofen will reduce fevrer and headache better
Guaifenesin will loosen up the chest congestion, and vastly help with coughing.

Talk to a pharmacist! They will help you!
