Have your Bookmarks ever just disappeared?

I had over 5 folders, with at least 10 links in each. ( Very important links too)
My PC froze and when I restarted all my history was deleted ( Not a big problem)
But every one of my BookMarks and Folders disappeared.
Im not using IE, im using FireFox too

Has this every happened to anyone else?
How can it be avoided?

Try looking under your my documents favorites to see if they are there.

I had that happen to me a couple of days ago, i was soo pissed. I finally restarted the computer a couple of times and it came back.

Yup, all my FF booksmarks disappeared last week and all my extension settings got reset. Luckily, I had a recent backup of my Favorites, so I just uninstalled and reinstalled FF with all extensions.

You might check in Firefox's Chrome folder (under C:\Documents and Settings) for a copy of your bookmarks.

Yes, in FF, similar conditions. Luckily, I was backed up.

Happens often to my mom's computer... the AOL prog freezes, and after she reboots, FF bookmarks are empty. Don't know why. It happens even with firefox not running.

I accidentally hit the off switch on my surge protector while running XP with Firefox open. When I rebooted, the bookmarks were gone and my extensions reset...so apparently it's a problem with the system hanging up or shutdown while FF is running.

I lost...half my bookmarks. The first 5 or so folders were fine...then bam! right in the middle of one they were just gone.

Haven't happened in Opera yet, but i have it backed up so I'm safe.

Yup, Firefox is infamous for this.
