How does it work? Will it work between two small building that are side by side?

These gizmos work between electrical outlets that are connected together to the same electrical panel. (The electrical panel would be connected to the Utility feed or similar source).

Unless the two buildings are electrically connected together (which is highly unlikely, and probably against the code) it will not work.
