Hi,

I'm posting this because a lot of users probably haven't tried it. If you haven't you don't know what you're missing. It provides you with so many features for editing. It focuses on being efficient for editing.

I use vim all the time.
try typing
:syntax on
it highlights perl, verilog, etc.
There is also gvim

I'm actually thinking about learning emacs. vi is great for simple configuration files and coding and whatnot, but emacs looks like it might be better for actual writing. Not sure though. Gonna play with it for a while.

I messed with VI a long time ago to write HTML, but then I got spoiled with Coffee Cup HTML Editor +++.

I'm getting into some serious scripting at work and so far only using notepad. I may have to look at vim.

Probably a bunch of other things, but I don't use it often.

The emacs vs vi debate is silly. vi is just a text editor.
