Once, when I was around eleven. My family had a tradition of celebrating Christmas in different cultural fashions for my first 15 years of life. Spotted dick was alright, not sweet enough to be a dessert to my American senses, but it tasted okay.
The British, however, gave my family a Christmas tradition that lasts until this day: crackers! The last few years we've been getting made in the UK crackers and I've been pleasantly surprised on the gifts within. American crackers have cracker-jack like toys, the British crackers have had more substantial gifts: decent scissors, grooming kits, metal logic puzzles and objects of fifteen minutes of satisfaction.
