Having a spy drone explode, regardless of whether or not there are civilians around (of whom some may be combatants, wtf does it matter?), is frickin wrong. And being curious about the downed equipment of an invading army does not an enemy combatant make.

I would, however, also like to address whoever said that a camera drone is not a big loss ... the aircraft was a UAV (Unmanned Aerial (?) Vehicle) ... pretty high-tech. And US military obviously does not want to let that kind of tech get into enemy hands.

I wouldn't kill innocent people. If you read my post, I said that just because they are women and children does not make them innocent. Lots of them are even shooting at us.

Why is it wrong to have a spy drone that explodes? Would it be wrong if the spy drone fired missiles, too?

Is a cruise missile that explodes any better? If you shoot a cruise missile down it explodes, why should a spy drone be any different?

That Apache was brought down, and they bombed that without caring if there were people around. If the US government is afraid that our technology will fall into enemy hands, they will destroy the equipment as soon as they can. If there are people around at the time it's unfortunate but doesn't change the fact that it's going to get bombed.

Like I asked, how is that different than having a spy drone crash, and then having to bomb the wreckage to prevent the enemy from stealing the technology?

It's just like the Apache... it doesn't matter whether there is a bomb in the aircraft itself or not. Either way the wreckage is going to get blasted soon after it goes down regardless if there are people standing around it or not. There were people standing all over that Apache. Do you think we cared if there were people standing near the aircraft when we blew it up?
