Anthony Hopkins once again amazes me with his acting mastery. He really blends well into his roles and this film is no exception. It made me jump several times, something almost every other 'scary' movie has failed to do. Great movie, extremely gory. People of weak stomach should not go, everyone else should.

yeah, I saw it. This kind of thread was posted before and I feel too lazy to talk about it again.

<edit> it is NOT extremely gory! You people must not know what gory is. It's not extremely gory, but it's got it's gross parts.

go·ry (gôr, gr)
adj. go·ri·er, go·ri·est.

Covered or stained with gore; bloody.
Full of or characterized by bloodshed and violence.

This movie is definitely characterized by bloodshed and violence. Yes, it is gory.

edit: And when I say characterized by, meaning, the movie would really not be the same without it, would be a completely different film. The gore sets it apart.

Haven't seen the movie, read the book-absolutely hated it, thought I was robbed of my time for reading it. Gross for grossness' sake, absurd love-story ending (I hear this was dropped in the movie). First two books & movies were quite good, but I really hated this one. Seemed to me to be written only to cash in on the Hollywood $$.

That's what happens when Dino De Laurentis gets involved with a movie. Not to mention, he owns the rights to the Hannibal Lecter character, books, etc.
