If so, did you like it?

Oh yeah, and could somebody fill me in on the middle of the book? ;) I read the first few chapters and I know enough about the end, but I'm too lazy and easily bored to read the rest of the book :Q

I read it last year. Daisy runs over some lady (who happened to be having an affair with someone) driving down the highway, and Gatsby gets blamed for it. The chick's husband shoots Gatsby and then himself.

Interesting book, not great but I'd say good... At least for a book I was forced to read for school. I still don't really get what its about :p

well I do, but ya know it was pretty odd at revealing the plot

Read it last month since it was required reading for school. Watched the movie, then had to do a book test on it. I didn't really care for the book though. Thanatopsis pretty much sums it all with some more details here and there.

Book was alright, 5 page essay teacher is making us do to analyze the book is pure b!tchyness.

Oh, and I kinda skipped most of the middle.

Don't give him the answer - we had to suffer through it, and so does he ;)

Edit: Although Daisy saying "Ohhh, there's a little white bird on the lawn" still cracks me up.

About twenty times, conservatively speaking. Fitzgerald is my favorite writer, so I'm a little biased. Movie sucks, BTW.

Check out his short stories. He has some terrific ones.

This is a approx. 150 page book. And of cource we don't have any specific topic, but we're supposed to make up and analyze a topic, analyze it further, analyze it even more, then write an analytical paper about the previous analysis. English teachers are evil

Sounds like a wussied-version of my final paper due in LIT3303.

And the 5 page essay on the 14 line poem was over what you said. If you think analyzing 150 pages is hard, try dealing with about 1/5000 (ie, 14 lines) of information.

I sorta liked the book but it was depressing...

Gatsby was a nice guy, and the girl he loved, Daisy, was a total B!itch and had to go off with the big gorilla Tom even though she didn't love him. Tom treated her like dirt and kept a skanky hoe in some crappy appartment and Daisy still stayed with him. wtf this is so fscking true.

I just don't want to end up like Gatsby... rich, classy, and utterly alone. :(

I remember junior year of high school we read an excerpt from it. Then we watched the movie with Robert Redford. Our teacher went into heat just watching the movie. She could hardly stand up afterwards. Never did understand that story.... didn't he kill himself in the end or something?

No. Myrtle's husband caps his @ss with a colt. He goes crazy cuz he says Gatsby got Myrtle run over. At least I think thats how it ends...
