Sheesh, he made a political book named common sense? How full of yourself can you get. Hey, have you read War and Peace by Carrot Top, or the Bible by Samuel L Jackson?

Yeah, I get tired of Beck's dramatics. BUT, he has some pretty good info sometimes. The ongoing story he has of ACORN is very interesting.

No interest in anything by Beck. I'd assumed and hoped you meant the Thomas Paine book Common Sense, which is worth reading, and was going to say after that, read 'Rights of Man'.

Ok seriously, no matter how interesting/good Becks book is, if you're going to read Common Sense read the REAL one...the one that actually helped form our government and country.

The shell game they run is amazing. And to think we are handing them billions. Nothing will be done because of all the corruption that kind of money brings.

Hell yeah, we have to kill ACORN, because we don't want those peasants voting, do we? Only the rich should vote. Baby Jeebus wants it that way.

Hell, I'm one of the peasants. I qualified and was approved for an ACORN mortgage about 6 years ago. It's still a corrupt organization.

"Common sense" would be to avoid Glenn Beck's tripe altogether. I also thought this thread was about Thomas Paine's writing.

I'm convinced Beck could say the ocean was wet, and most in here would deny it.

Nope, the ocean is indeed wet; it contains moisture.

I love all the vitriol Glenn Beck gets on this board. I'd bet that most don't even realize that Glenn Beck is a registered Independent, and that one of the main points he constantly makes is that both of the major political parties have huge issues.

I guess it is just en vogue to mindlessly bash anything conservative sounding nowadays and assume that it came from a Republican.

Oh yes, hes a registered independent who completely follows the Republican party line and the legion of mouthbreathers believes his every word.

Still amazing that people jump on Acorn for helping people vote, but I guess that should be a privilege for only rich white landowners.

You must have missed the many shows where he bashed Bush, continues to bash the republicans and democrats, and presents the evidence of the acorn fraud. It has nothing to do with how good acorn is since they help people vote.

Maybe not the best comparison, but Hell's Angels are not great guys because they spend a week a year running toys for tots.

Glenn Beck is insane. That's all that needs to be said. If you admire the man, seek psychiatric help immediately.

This country was set up for rich white guys by rich white guys. Back in the good old days slavery was legal and women did not have the right to vote.

The country had an agrarian based economy and was the subject of the foreign policies of the current Super powers.

The current USA is very different from the country that existed in 1776.

That's because you are a troll who has no interest in the real issues.

I'd bet that most don't even realize that Glenn Beck is a registered Independent

It's pretty meaningless and irreelevant. His party registration isn't the issue, it's his views.

And for what it's worth, a lot of radicals know registering independant can boost ratings.

Some people actually fall for that mattering coughryancough.

Lyndon LaRouche as I recall is a registered Democrat, David Duke a registered Republican, guess that means a lot to you.

and that one of the main points he constantly makes is that both of the major political parties have huge issues.

And Charles Manson said our society has problems. Guess he was reasonable too.

There's more to it than that. What those issues are, appreciating the good and bad, having actually useful suggestions - those are what help and what Beck lacks.

I guess it is just en vogue to mindlessly

Irony alert

bash anything conservative sounding nowadays and assume that it came from a Republican.

Yes, your careful, thoughtful post proved Beck is right about everything by alleging some people might assume he registered as a Republican.

Why don't you post one argument by Beck you think is his best argument, with the context not just a sentence or two, and we'll see how it holds up, if he can say *anything* right.

Make it specific, not 'both parties are flawed'.

Beck probably had no idea who Thomas Paine was until 3 months before his ghost writer brought him the idea for a book, and his editors are just as clueless. If anyone thinks that there are any real and relevant parallels between Paine's pamphlet in 1776 to crybaby-come-at-least-8-years-too-late pop culture trash...you deserve to get ripped-off of your hard-earned $6 bucks.

These are the times that try men's tear glands.

It really is the case that some of these cheap demagogues find it easy and cheap to use credible people and theories to try to wrap around themselves.

It's really six year old type stuff, why everything has to do with freedom or other 'nice words' and their enemies are all something-nazi' or similar and so on.

It's one reason the word 'conservative' is so widely used - as supposedly one of the two main 'sides', it has instant credibility - half the sides can't just be wrong - and you can take any smelly piece of spoiled meat and stick a label on it called 'conservative' and it's somehow instantly worth discussing.

Call it torture, and it doesn't fly; call it 'defending America' and it does. Call it 'shifting power and wealth to the top' and it doesn't fly; call it 'small government' and it does, and so on.
