have you noticed how a distorted bass makes any song sound good?

you know, when they put a big rumbling distortion on the bass?

best example = rage - kill a man

Have you noticed how a lot of makeup makes a man look like a ridiculous man?

Too much bass sucks. I don't know why people like turning up the bass for everything. I actually my Winamp equalizer set so there's less bass. I can actually hear other stuff in my music now and I enjoy it much more. Go figure.

I thought this was going to be a jab at those morons whose cars vibrate and make more noise than their speakers when they crank it up.

maybe when you upgrade your $10 2" speakers that you currently have you'll appreciate bass more ;)

Guess that tells you how much the song sucks if it needs that much bass huh? Oops :p

Music, to me, is more than just bass. I've even started to like jazz a bit (just a bit) because of some of the unique sounds they make. I've even heard songs where just a piano playing sounds awesome.

We can hear from 20Hz to almost 20000Hz. Do we really need to stay in the range of 30-60Hz? :p

well we can feel frequencies below 20Hz, and you should always FEEL the music you listen to ;)

Well, I work in Pro Audio and too much bass sucks through 24 : 18in subs with 1KwRMS / Spkr as much as it does through a crappy 10 in car sub.
It's about PrOPER BALANCE!

Not when it's 1 am and you live in an Apartment Complex.

The only song I can think of like that is Prodigy - The Trick. It's quite good.

Agreed :) Anything over ~120Hz is extra crap.

anyone who likes bass should listen to Victor Wooten do his thing. Incredible.

That said, there is more to music than base. But that doens't mean the bass-heavy songs are all bad.

eh. i think when a lot of bassists use it, it comes at the expense of the super low-end, and dynamics of the playing. but the bassist in my band has a really wicked distorted sound that he uses, so i know it can sound good. he uses two amps at once, with a mesa boogie providing the preamp section and a vintage 300 watt Ampeg loaded with KT88 tubes that provides a seriously punishing power section. KT88's will rock you so hard your butt falls off. that's pretty hard.

Exactly. I don't like hearing massive amounts of rumbling when I'm listening to classical music or even 80s rock. I have a set of Altec Lansing ATP-3's which is a pretty decent 2.1 set.
