Brink sent 340 questionnaires to people who spend at least 30 hours a week on computers, Heise Online, the German news site, reports. Of those surveyed, 62 per cent indicated to have sworn or yelled at their PCs; 31 per cent have hit the mouse on the table or thrown with it. About 1.5 per cent even admitted having pushed the monitor off their desk or dropped their PCs intentionally.

Stress-frazzled Spaniards are paying £40 a pop to smash technology with sledgehammers, Ananova reports. The initiative in Soria allows access to the city's main scrapyard where enraged suits vent their frustration on cars, computers and mobile phones

lol just a thought to keep things in perspective

I've never pushed the monitor off my desk or dropped my PC intentionally. But I'm guilty on the rest.

heheh. i pounded my fist on my old computer desk so hard before that the wood broke and the whole damn thing fell apart.

that doesn't sound too good does it... f/\p f/\p f/\p ahahha

Verbal berating is better than physical abuse to your computer. I have a problem hitting things that don't hit back, but I've no problems cursing the heck outta things that talk back in errors and such 😛

same

sometimes it's just SO ridiculously frustrating

Nope, can't say i ever curse or acted violently toward any computer... but that could be because i know how to use them.

Lately I've been bitching at my cable line, reliability has taken an extreme nose dive. Never swore/hit any of the hardware though.

Indeed.

I've been known to utter a loud expletive from time to time due to something the computer has done (for example, recently it's been freezing up rock-solid in the middle of typing things)....but not AT the computer.

I mean, *I* picked out all the parts, *I* built it from scratch, *I* installed the OS and all the applications....if it's fvcked up, it's my doing, so why would I swear at the machine?

It's more of a "GODDAMNIT, WHY CAN'T I FIGURE OUT WHAT'S WRONG WITH THIS THING!?!?!?"

I remember one of my friends (way back) who knocked over a Macintosh Classic off a desk in frustration, which definately caused some damage to it. When he tried to boot it up afterword, the smiling mac icon that is typically present during boot was frowning instead. 😛
