When I got my settlement for my back, and I bought my house here in TN, my next door neighbor who ever since I got hurt was always there for me. He would help get me out the house every now to talk with others in the trailer park, or when wh all go together for a even, like the 4th, would take my chair and audio equipment out the hoiuse and set it up so I can be with everyone, and supply the music, and at the end of the night, though about to pass out, without a bitch or even having to ask would put it back in the home, with a few others helping me as well.
But when I got my home, and he helped pack up my old home in my moving trailer to move out and away I handed him the title to my trailer. Though it wasnt much, may have been worth $6000 if I were to sell it, I decided not to try to sell it but give it to him, his wife, and kids for my home way 300x better then the one he was living in. Needless to say, him and his wife started to cry, especially when I toldd them all the taxes on it were paid up, had it set up in the office that they could have it, and it was all free and clear of everything, no money at all, just to take it.
I do this all the time, Im always putting people first ahead of me if I can help in any way at all. When I get any extra cash, instead of buying myself something I will take my wife and kids out for a nice dinner, it may only be $25, but in my situation we cannot afford to really go anywhere at all with our money being tight and cooped up in the home for maybe 3-4 months before I get my hands on extra funds.
Shit before I got hurt I cant tell you how many people I have helped on the highway with flat tires because I always kept a jack, 4-way, compressor and plugs in my car. And even today, though I cant do much, I been helping people get their computers fixed, most the time for enough money to get me a pack of smokes, but more so just because I can help them. Shoot even on the move down to my new home I stopped to help a old lady out. She said sshe had been there for hours and no one stopped till I did. I helped her for a good 2 hours, in trying to get a phone call out, and stayed to make sure the tow truck driver showed up because we were literally in the middle of nowhere. She called me her Guardian angel, wanted to give me $50 for stopping, trying to fix her van for her, then diving till I could get a signal on my cell phone and find help for her with no means to a phone book. I never took her money, and told her this is just what I do, try to help everyone out I can if I have the means to do so. Sure I may have wasted 3 hours of my time in helping her, had my wife, kids, and mother in law with me, butI didnt care how long it took, what if that was us, I would hope someone like me would do the same, so I didnt mind taking my time out to do this for someone. Done this kind of stuff all my life.
But anyway, more people need to start thinking about more then just them self, and help others out, its a truly a GREAT feeling you get for taking that extra step to be helpful, and I am a FIRM believer in pay it forward.
And once I get on SSI finally, and get my back pay, wife doesnt know this, but Im not spending the money on me. I will pay off anything that needs to get paid off, which isnt much, and them I am going to update her kitchen, that really is the same it has been since 1943, with new everything, and a floor. She deserves this and soooooo much more for all we been through and she has stuck to my side during it all. I love her sooooo much, no words can say. I got a lot more that needs to be done to this house then that, but I know that part of the house would make her feel happy inside then to deal with a busted floor, old ass appliances, and no counter or cabinet space. The rest I will have to figure out how to get done.
