I saw it, and what struck me was the blatant hypocrisy of portraying a successful communist state bashing a much more capitalistic one as some sort of "take back 'Merica" propaganda piece.

Hell no, it aired way too late to make a difference. That being said, it was the only ad that made me stop and think for a sec.

Wasn't it more about the debt that the country takes on and trying to stimulate your way to prosperity? Trying to live beyond its means? China is in better shape in that regards as it has virtually no debt. Not really about communism vs capitalism. More about being responsible with your finances, no matter what kind of economic system you have.

lol the Chinamen are our slaves. They work for a discounted price by keeping their currency cheap. In the meanwhile they are buying EXPENSIVE US bonds at bubble prices. They are the ones that will be in trouble when interest rates rise and the bond market sells off. I hope they enjoying wiping their asses with devalued dollars.

??

Their currency is pinned to the US dollar. Its value does not change at all (relative to the US dollar). China is seeing record growth and economic boom while the US is slumping since millions of jobs have been moved...... to China.

Their currrency is not absolutely pinned to the US dollar and does have some float, but since QE2, the chinese will need to buy even more dollars or else be pressured to increase the value of the yuan. See why they want to buy US debt so bad?

In regards to the Ad, I saw it a few weeks ago and i LOL'd. I'm not even sure if the professor is Chinese. Playing on fears of China taking over US like that.... lol

Their currency IS pinned to the US dollar (albeit unofficially). It is pinned there at an artificially low rate.

I saw it and thought it was xenophobic.

I also think that it's interesting that it said that the British Empire was great. Why are people still spewing such crap? That's like saying the Nazi regime was great. Plus, they didn't turn their back on their principles. They were defeated by people who fought against those principles.

True. Short term profit and long term losses (when the inevitable correction happens).
