I let my first roommate in college use my computer because his sucked.
I checked the history, and he had been surfing fashion websites and gay pron. :frown:
He later moved into another dorm with his "friend" down the hall.

These days, it seems like if your name is on the account, you're responsible for the internet activity that occurs on that line regardless if your computer downloaded the offending content or not. So have you ever monitored and/or logged what websites your roommates visit?

Also, I have no idea how one would monitor Internet activity or set permissions. My office uses something called SurfControl, but they pay mucho moolah to use it.

Sounds pretty cool. I just googled that stuff. So, I guess that the other piece to the puzzle is a sniffer program?Originally posted by: her209

I've tried ethereal and another that I don't remember the name of, it has a eye in the logo and starts with an "i", I believe.Originally posted by: timswim78
Cool. What sniffer would you reccomend? I have both linux and windows and would like to try this out sometime on my home network. (I'm pretty sure that no one is connecting wirelessly to my router, since I've done everything that I know to secure it. However, this could be a fun project and a chance to learn something new).
