i guess, but it's one thing upgrading from a PII 400 to a 1 ghz TBird (that's what i did) it's another thing ENTIRELY upgrading from a 3.06 P4 to a 3.2 P4.

it's the scale of the matter, if you are increasing Mhz by 120 %, then you will DEFINITELY see a difference in performance, if you are increasing by less than 10%, than you will see less than 10% difference.

besides can anyone really tell the difference between a 3.06 and a 3.2 ghz P4??

of course, 3.2 ownes 3.06.

Now if you were to take away all the software specificly written to compare the two then you wouldn't notice.

Unless you are in this race

I've been running this XP2000 for a long time and I just have a ti4200 which has played any game I've thrown at it so I see no reason to upgrade really.

I have been running a dual P III 800 133 FSB system for 3 years now, and the only way I have upgraded it is by claiming old parts form people's machines I upgrade for them.

After 3 years, i just upgraded the case it is in so it will hold the 12 hard drives, and dvd player and cd burner. I am still running a Voodoo 5 5500 in that system.

The only games that make me want to upgrade right now is BF1942 (Market Garden) and Medal of Honor (the Omaha Beach level). Something is slowing me down pretty bad. I'm not sure if it's the CPU or the video card (GF3 Ti500). Anyone know?

Sounds like a software problem.
I run BF and MOH on an XP 1700+ with a GF3 Ti 200 and they run very smooth at 10x7 on medium settings.
Are you trying to run AA or AF ?
That would definitely slow you down.
Or maybe some background processes are hogging CPU.

I am happy with my 2.0ghz at 3.1Ghz. Don't feel the upgrade bug, yet. To tell you the truth, I don't see any difference from 2.0ghz from 3.1Ghz except the game menu goes faster and benchmark is much higher. The web still browse the same speed. :)
