Not turned in any work into the class four weeks into the term and still managed a decent grade?

Basically what happened,

At the beginning of the term I discussed with my professor that math was my only class on Fridays and that I worked on Fridays.(I have math 3 other times during the week) She said this would not be a problem. So I went about my business of missing class on Fridays and going to work.

I learn today that I have missed the last four times of turning in homework :|. Apparently Fridays are the days to turn in homework and she neglected to tell me this when we had our discussion.

I'm pissed.

Doesn't it make you mad people can be this dumb? This is what the guy next to me ranted and raved about all class.

For clarity it wasn't really me :p

So did you do the homework and just hold onto it? Didn't cross your mind that she may collect them while you weren't there?

You didn't wonder when you were supposed to hand in your four homework assignments?

She has never mentioned turning in homework until now, judging by some other reactions in the class this is the first time she has mentioned it in class. I always attend every other class except Fridays.

And no I didn't wonder about the homework, I have had classes in the past where you did the work to help prepare for the tests not to be graded.

you don't have this thing called a Syllabus that they hand out on the first day of class?

my last semester in college I took econ, and I skipped class every single time, aside from the days that homework was due or we had a test.

and yes, all of those dates were on the syllabus.

Thats why a lot of people are pissed, it says where you should be in the book on certain dates but no due dates for anything.

There were many classes where I just skipped all of the homework altogether. If 2 exams + 1 final = 90% of your grade, why bother with the homework? just do well on 3 days, and you will be golden with the curve.

The syllabus is the contract. Instructors can't just make crap up, it has to be documented in the syllabus. Explain that you did the work but weren't aware it was for grades. If she doesn't let you turn it in, go to the dean.

I've NEVER had to go to a dean I've always been able to work it our with the instructors, you probably will to, but you have to talk to her about it.

Well unless they state in the syllabus that they can change it anytime they want. I have a few instructors they have this written into the syllabus.

I have done zero homework this semester, haven't been to most classes (I actually should have been auto-dropped for missing classes :D) and still have a 4.0.

Granted, I have to turn in some programs next week, and a short little paper, but no biggie.

I just worked it all out my profs :).

A lot of teachers I've had, only grade tests, and assign homework simply for students to do for their own benefit(practice) so they don't fail the tests.
